Starting the Week off Right...

The weather finally was nice enough on a Sunday for Weight Watchers to be on. I was excited to go because I knew the last two weeks have not been the best for me. I know WW works, but part of the working (For me)  is going to the meeting and weighing in. I have said it many times that I need the support, accountability and gentle pressure from the meetings. ( I say pressure with love). I sadly gained 4.5lbs over the last two weeks. I would say a majority of the weight gain came from this weekend ... cookies, doughnuts, coke a cola, Mexican food, 750 calorie milkshakes, Japanese food... This Valentine's Day was spent indulging... a little too much ... I am ready to kick this week's ass though. Starting today.

I have been saying for the past week that I wanted to do I wanted to weekly goals, something to keep me accountable week by week and also make me healthier. So the goals are... ( I will reevaluate Monday, February 24)

1. Drink 72 ounces of water a day
My trusty water bottle will have to go everywhere with me. I will also have a glass of hot green tea every  morning to help keep things moving and with the water intake!
2. Have a fruit or veggie with every meal and snack.
I love fruits and veggies, I just have to be mindful and have an option ready to go during the day.
4. Do 90 minutes of exercise (through out the week)
It is supposed to be in the 50s towards the end of the week, I hopeful we can get a walk in with the dogs. If not I have the Jillian videos.
5. Do not eat anything from work
This is hard. Our cook is amazing and the treats are plentiful. But it isn't worth it. Thin taste so much better. I have to have my healthier treats and options ready just in case the mood for something sweet happens.
6. Pack all my breakfast and lunches
Be prepared the night before. Simple.
7. No mindless late night snacking
If I want to save points for a nightly snack I need to make sure it has a fruit or veggie and is low in points. No more snacks, just because.

These goals are something I know are attainable. They will require effort and work, but a little work isn't a bad thing! In our WW meeting the leader was talking about looking at one week at a time, something I am big on. So here is my next attempt to making me healthier. How was your weekend? Any indulgences? Please tell me I wasn't the only one who got caught up in the romance of food....

Weekly Recap

This week was an emotional roller coaster - work was harder than normal, I worked extra hours, Justin had a lot going on, family illness... the list could go on and on!

But I DID NOT emotional eat! That is huge for me. Obviously, being over weight I have food, self control, emotional and other issues. Part of this journey is figuring out how to control all of these issues. I can figure out portion control, I can retrain my body to listen to the full feeling I honestly think the calorie/point counting is the easiest part of this. What is hard (to me) is trying to stop myself from going to get an ice cream because I had a bad day, 6 margaritas when I have a great day, a cookie because I feel blah... I have to get a check on my emotions and not let food rule my life. Not only am I excited to lose the weight, I am excited to become a better me.

Last night at dinner I made a mistake that I am still a little ticked about - I researched our restaurant and picked out the best choice for me. I ordered a Petite Fillet - what I was supposed to order was a Petit cut Fillet, the difference was 9 points, so I didn't get dessert. Not a huge deal but still annoying.

For the next two weeks I am going to use the Weight Watcher's Simply Fit Jump Start Menu guide. For two weeks I will follow the menu and see what happens. I am going to allow myself real cheese (you can have 7points a day) instead of Fat Free Cheese. Justin and I are going shopping today so tomorrow starts the  new menu.. Of course, I will keep you updated!

Tomorrow is official weigh in day. I am excited to see what the Weight Watcher's scale says. Again, I will keep you updated!

The blog is also getting a makeover this weekend, stay tuned! Have a great weekend!

Weekend Recap...

Happy Monday! How was your weekend?

Saturday Justin had to work for a bit so I relaxed Saturday morning, slept in and caught up on household stuff. After Justin got off work I met him at an outdoorsman event he wanted to go to and then we headed out for an hibachi date. Word to the wise - there is nothing healthy about hibachi lol :) I hate half and didn't bring the other half home. We headed to Lowe's and Kohl's afterwards to do some returning and start pricing blinds.  It wasn't a super exciting day, but we enjoyed being together and crossing some stuff off our to-do list.

Sunday, I went back to Weight Watchers. I was excited to be back in the meetings. (If you are on the fence or not about the meetings/online - Do the Meetings, you have someone holding you accountable, someone who is there week after week to encourage you! It really does help!)
So today begins the tracking. Are any of you on Weight Watchers online, we can be friends on WW :)

During the meeting, one of the ladies was talking about how Weight Watchers is a fresh start each week. You keep track of one week at a time, weigh in - reflect on what was good/bad and what you can improve on and then start over the following week! It is nice taking this one week at a time, small goals seem so much more attainable! Weight Watchers has started a new program called Simply Filling. On this program you don't have to count points - you just simply eat power foods and go from there. I am counting points this week but I may try the new plan in the next few weeks. Right now, I need to count points, watch portions and really monitor what I am eating.

Today ( I work 4-10s and off Mondays) I am going to take the pups on a walk, it is beautiful here! I have to run to Kroger's, DMV and post office. Hopefully those errands won't take too long. Tonight The Husband and I are going to watch The Mountaineers (WVU) play Texas. We are going to eat at Panera and I am not going to get the most delicious roasted pecans at the basketball game - those are my weakness :)

How was your weekend? Did you make healthy choices? Did you start something new/different?

Day 1

If you are visiting from Skinny Meg's blog, welcome! Thanks for visiting! I am so excited to lose this weight once and for all!!

For those of you who are regulars, Hi Mom, let me recap what I am doing. I am participating in Skinny Meg's Diet Bet Challenge. I have until Feb 4th to lose 12lbs - that is 4% of my weight. If I do that I at least get my money back I invested with a chance of winning more! Weekly I will write into Meg, tell her what I am struggling with, how the changes are coming and let everyone know if I have lost any weight!

Blog wise - I am going to post daily, but I will do a weekly recap for Meg and post it here as well. I hope that you will stick around after the 4 weeks and watch as I completely transform :)

My goals for the next 4 weeks are simple -

Eat better
Eat less
Move more
Sit less

Sunday, the 12th I am joining Weight Watchers again. It works, if I do it. I am ready to do it. Exercise will be at home until it warms up, then I will start running again. I refuse to run when it is negative outside. I have an eliptical an Jillian videos that I will use until the weather warms up. I also o Yin Yoga every other Sunday evening - but that is more for relaxation :)  I am excited.

Last night as I was trying to find an outfit to wear for my pictures to send in to Meg, I was trying to find an outfit that showed how big I was, but still looked cute. I usually try to hide everything, wear Spanx and suck it in. It was very hard to take the pictures that I shared with her/you. But I want this to be an honest journey (yeah, I put lotion on my extra dry legs and painted my nails before I took them - I wanted to look some what decent). I am excited to share it!

So if you are reading this, let me know about you. Where can I read about your journey? What tips do you have for me? Any advice? Encouragement? I can't wait to hear from you.

13.9

That's how many pounds I am down. I am hopeful that next Monday will bring 1.1lbs at least so I can be at the 15lbs mark.

I have 44.1lbs left before I want to try on a wedding dress. I am hoping that by the end of May I will be close enough to try on a dress. That gives me 4 months. I know I can do this. Weight Watchers is such an awesome program, if you are on the fence or considering it - I whole heartily say DO IT!

One of the things I really need to start doing is getting active. I have the treadmill, it is just at my parents. I am hoping come March I will be able to start running C25k again . I have to get moving!

Do you have any tips on how to move in the winter? What about weight watcher recipes?

First week of WW (almost)

Well tomorrow is the dreaded weigh in. I have done well for the most part and surprisingly I feel better just after one week of trying to move more, eat less and drink a lot more water. I had a few weak moments this week and with the start of AF I knew it would be tough, I did ok though and made it through. I have been making better choices and really thinking twice before eating anything. I am nervous, anxious and excited to step on the scale tomorrow.

Today we are taking Justin's mom back to the airport. I am not sure if we will stop at IKEA or do any shopping - it is a little too cold for anything outdoors if you ask me (8 degrees here).

The snow ruined our plans to go home to see my parents and get the treadmill. I have to start moving more. I felt so much better when I was active! How do you cold weather girls stay active in the winter? Any tips?

I am doing a guest post this week for one of my favorite weight loss blog. I am excited to share more of my story on her site and hopeful that I will in turn gain some support!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I have to do a teacher's in-service tomorrow :( So no Monday off for me! I will gladly go back to my 4/10s next week though!

Have a great day!!

My Own Weigh....

No more excuses. I have debated going back to WW meetings and doing the new Points Plus plan, but I can do the old way at home and do it on my own. Well with Justin and all of you. Tomorrow morning I will start counting every point. I will weigh in every Tuesday morning. I am nervous. It wasn't that hard last time, but I was single, I didn't have to worry about Justin's dinner and making sure he had enough to eat. Now, don't get me wrong. He totally, 100% supports me, but this isn't his issue or his weight to lose. Exercise will be harder this time too. Rebecca and I ran/swam daily and I had a lot more free time. My 7.25 hour work day and 10 minute commute is now a 10 hour day and a 1 hour each way commute. So it will be running at home when I can, doing home work outs and videos. Any tips or ideas are greatly appreciated :) So hopefully the next week will be smooth and I will see a loss!

Being Healthy...

Over the past few weeks some issues have happened that made me question my life style and how healthy I am. I have even questioned poor Justin's health and have politely  made  asked him to join me on a healthier life style. He obliged, not sure if he wanted too but since I do 95% of the cooking, he kind of has to.

We went Krogering last night and picked up a lot of food. Lots of fresh veggies and fruits and healthier snacks.

I was doing so well with WW and exercising, I am really disappointed in my self for stopping. Tonight I am weighing in. My official weigh-in will still be on Thursday but I need to know where I stand right now. I am getting back on track.  Being thin isn't the only thing I want. I want to spend the next 75 years or so with Justin. I want to raise kids and be a healthy parent. I want to be the best person I can be for myself, Justin, our families and our future family. So I am starting to make better choices, cooking better meals and starting exercising again so I can do my part in staying around another 75 years or so.....
