Valentine's Day Recap

I love country music. Ok, I love all music; but old school 90s Country Music, it is my roots. My poor husband loves my love of old school country music, heheh.  I have always said if Sammy Kershaw ever came close to my area we'd go. I love love love the Kershaw's song Queen of my Double Wide Trailer, along with all of his music really. By chance a few months ago I was on his webpage and realized he was coming 90 minutes north of us, I was so excited.

Sammy, along with Joe Diffie and Aaron Tippin, preformed on Friday the 14th at The Capital Theater. Since the weather hasn't been the best  we decided to just stay the night near the concert and having a relaxing weekend. We both took off Friday, enjoyed sleeping, having Dunkin Donuts for breakfast and being able not to rush. We got our bags in the truck and headed north. Our first stop was to drop off some stuff to Justin's dad and visit with him for a few minutes. Since it was Valentine's Day we decided to have a nicer late lunch and not really do dinner in hopes to beat the crowds. We decided on a Japanese Steak House that we love and enjoyed being the only ones in the restaurant!  After our bellies got full we got back on the road. We made it to our hotel, checked in and got settled. We just so happened to being stay next to a Cabela's (yeah, I planned it!) so Justin was eager to make that our first shopping stop of the weekend. We did a few hours of shopping there and then headed back to our room to get ready to go.

I have been scouring some of my favorite online boutiques for a perfect date night dress. And finally found it at So Lola . It was my first time ordering from the lovely boutique and couldn't have been more happier with the customer service, quality of clothing and adorableness.

Jacket - Oldnavy, Dress So Lola, Leggins Torrid, Boots Fergie

While in the concert some snow came down so we slowly made our way back to our hotel room, we were both of hungry so we stopped at Sheetz to get some MTO and crash. We were both up way past our bedtimes lol. We woke up the following morning to an amazing deluxe continental breakfast. If you are looking for a family friendly, affordable and amazing customer service hotel chain, I can't say enough nice things about Microtel Inn and Suites. We left the hotel and went to meet friends for lunch in a nearby town and spend the rest of the afternoon shopping. We found lots of great deals and were able to enjoy the weekend just relaxing and being together. It was nice to just have a small getaway and really relax. Sometimes it is nice to just have nothing to focus on but each other and having fun.

How'd you spend your Valentine's Day?

Weekend Recap...

Happy Monday! How was your weekend?

Saturday Justin had to work for a bit so I relaxed Saturday morning, slept in and caught up on household stuff. After Justin got off work I met him at an outdoorsman event he wanted to go to and then we headed out for an hibachi date. Word to the wise - there is nothing healthy about hibachi lol :) I hate half and didn't bring the other half home. We headed to Lowe's and Kohl's afterwards to do some returning and start pricing blinds.  It wasn't a super exciting day, but we enjoyed being together and crossing some stuff off our to-do list.

Sunday, I went back to Weight Watchers. I was excited to be back in the meetings. (If you are on the fence or not about the meetings/online - Do the Meetings, you have someone holding you accountable, someone who is there week after week to encourage you! It really does help!)
So today begins the tracking. Are any of you on Weight Watchers online, we can be friends on WW :)

During the meeting, one of the ladies was talking about how Weight Watchers is a fresh start each week. You keep track of one week at a time, weigh in - reflect on what was good/bad and what you can improve on and then start over the following week! It is nice taking this one week at a time, small goals seem so much more attainable! Weight Watchers has started a new program called Simply Filling. On this program you don't have to count points - you just simply eat power foods and go from there. I am counting points this week but I may try the new plan in the next few weeks. Right now, I need to count points, watch portions and really monitor what I am eating.

Today ( I work 4-10s and off Mondays) I am going to take the pups on a walk, it is beautiful here! I have to run to Kroger's, DMV and post office. Hopefully those errands won't take too long. Tonight The Husband and I are going to watch The Mountaineers (WVU) play Texas. We are going to eat at Panera and I am not going to get the most delicious roasted pecans at the basketball game - those are my weakness :)

How was your weekend? Did you make healthy choices? Did you start something new/different?

Our first...

Today is our first anniversary....

I can still remembering counting down the minutes... I was so excited to marry Justin I couldn't wait. Seeing his handsome face at the end of the aisle was absolutely perfect. It was the moment that every little girl dreams of.

This year has been the best year of my life. Hands down. Justin is so good to me and makes me be a better person that being married to him is the easiest job in the world. Now, don't get me wrong, he may want to tape my mouth with duct tape sometimes because of the whining crabbiness that comes from me but he never does.

I never thought an only child could be so selfless and giving, but he is. He is the best care giver, provider and friend I could have ever asked for. I always thought I was good at taking care of people until I met him.

He keeps me grounded, allows me to dream, holds my hand and even cleans out the bathtub when I have a horrible stomach virus.

He  can make me laugh like no other. And his grin, it gets me every time.

I am so blessed to be his wife, honored to have him as my best friend and humbled at how much he truly loves me.

A year full of new jobs, family issues, building a house, learning to give and compromise, learning to be married, sharing the good and bad and waking up next to him every day are just a few of the many reasons this year has been the best. I know I am the lucky one, I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you.

Thank you babe, thank you for loving me the way you do....Happy first Anniversary, The first of many....

Part 2, Our Story

Part 1, for those of you who need a back story...

Oh my word, he just kissed me. Like really, really kissed me. I didn't want the kiss to be over but I did so I could call everyone who was waiting on the kiss to happen. We finally stopped kissing ( I am sure my neighbors were glad) and I ran up all 18 stairs to get to my apartment, went out on my deck and called my best friend. The kiss was perfect, I knew at that moment that would be my last first kiss. I really think I floated up the stairs that night. When he drove away in his yellow jeep wrangler, my heart was all his.

A few weeks had passed and while he had kissed me, he had't made me his yet. Each day that passed I wondered what we were doing. We hung out every night, if not every other. Gmail chatted daily while we were supposed to work, talking way late into the night about nothing and everything, snuggling on the couch watching True Blood, How I met Your Mother and Big Bang Theory.  Anytime I would bring up the whole girlfriend/boyfriend thing he'd smile and say you aren't my girlfriend. I would always smile back and say something funny but inside I wanted to scream, No shit, asshole - that's the point I want to be. But I didn't.

Fast forward to October 14th. Football Thursday in Motown. Justin was coming with me. Along with my brother and good friend Jim. I made food at my apartment, hung out with Justin all day and made a few cocktails to keep me from screaming I want to be your girlfriend....

We get to our then tailgate spot, start having a few Yunglings and enjoy the atmosphere of a Morgantown night game. Everything was going really well until my brother (innocently enough) was on the phone trying to coordinate location with his friends and he said he was at a certain place with his sister and her boyfriend. For some reason it him referring to Justin as my boyfriend sent me over the edge. Justin teases me still to this day about the look on my face, and me stomping off - but if he wasn't going to call me his girlfriend ain't no way in hell I was going to call him my boyfriend. I politely told Zach Justin was not my boyfriend and walked away from the group. Justin thought I was crazy, I kinda thought the same thing about myself but I just needed to make my point. We were boyfriend and girlfriend, we were a couple, we belonged together... everyone could see it - why couldn't he?
Our first picture

Eventually I cooled off, rejoined the group and enjoyed the football took our first picture together and enjoyed our night. When we got back to my apartment we had ordered food from a late night greasy diner, sat on my deck and just watched the stars.... it was just the perfect night... later that night when we were canoodling on the couch he said it in his most adorable loving voice... if you want to be my girlfriend I would really like that... Yeah, I went to bed that night grinning! Stay tuned for part 3 ;)

Quick Takes...

Happy July 3rd! It is hard to believe that we are already into July. I hope you are having a fantastic summer!
There are some pretty exciting things going on in our world. We are building are first house! We are expected to be moved in September! WE are beyond excited. It has been so much picking out flooring, wood, cabinets, light fixtures and all the stuff that goes into a house. The only thing we have left to pick out is  counter tops. This is has been the hardest choice for me, I don't know why? You can follow our move, house building and choices on Instagram, #Mfamilymoves

I am trying to get our passport paper work together, we are heading to St. Maarten for the New Year. My best friend is moving there for school so we are going to visit. I am slightly annoyed that I have to pay for a completely new passport instead of a name change because my passport is older than 1 year. Oh well, small price to pay to travel. Well, I guess it is a big price heheh

On our last weigh in Justin and I both reached a high point! 25lbs gone for both of us! We are doing weight watchers, trying to do C25K (when the rain stops) and even signed up for our first race in September. We are doing the Color Me Rad run - Justin picked our team name - the Vincent Van Goes... Don't worry he isn't quitting his day job!

Overall life is going well, I really can't complain :) Hope you have a safe and Happy 4th!

Hey hormones, get a grip....

I have cried not once but twice today over internet videos. Seriously, hormones... get it together! We started back at C25k yesterday. Day 1 was tough but it was awesome! It felt good to get back out there and feel the burn! If you haven't heard of Rockmyrun.com - check it out. Now some of the songs are very explicit. Check out the label if you aren't a fan of nasty lyrics :) There are many clean playlists and each playlist cost usually under 5$. I am a huge fan! Has anyone used a fitbit? If so - thoughts?  Debating a one - I really like the sleep monitoring feature!

The house is coming together... I guess. We still have lots of boxes to unpack but I am trying not to freak out and get overwhelmed. When you look at the big picture - none of that stuff matters. Tonight we are having Rebecca and her husband over for dinner - I am sure they won't mind boxes :) Right guys?

We had a fun filled weekend with wedding stuff. We got to taste test our food - I am super excited to eat the yummy food! And we got tuxes ordered and our vendors paid. I feel better about that stuff!

I hope everyone had a great day :) Tuesday is almost over!

A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

  • Like everyone, our December is packed. Even though I get stressed, a little extra grouchy and emotional...I secretly  LOVE this hustle and bustle. Our house is 99.9% done being decorated. I have suddenly got the urge to go all out this year and have been spending a lot of time in Michael's and The Dollar Tree getting crafty things. Thanks to Pinterest I have been having lots of fun!
  • I have a good start on gifts. We still have a lot left to buy but nothing that will be too serious. I am pretty sure Jusitn hasn't started yet ;) I even wrapped some this morning while he was hunting. I just have to now clean up my wrapping mess. And as a side note - I am done buying cheap wrapping paper. Everything I wrapped somehow managed to tear the paper a little.
  • We are going to out first Bowl game in January. Sine we will already be in Florida we decided to drive a little further and go see WVU take on Clemson in the Orange Bowl. I am very, VERY excited!!
  • My family is coming up tomorrow, we are very excited to have company - however I probably should start dusting, ASAP.
  • I got my first just because we our thankful for you present at work yesterday - it is nice to appreciated :)
  • I hope everyone has a great weekend, I am going to go clean and watch a marathon of How I Met Your Mother.

So much more than I wanted...

It is the first day of Rifle season in WV today. If you have a significant other than enjoys hunting (or if you enjoy it) you know how big of a deal this is. Deer season has never impacted my life, until the last two years. I have off every Monday. Some Mondays I spend it catching up with friends, DVR'd shoes, cleaning or just doing random things. This Monday I woke up at 4:50 to start making Justin's breakfast (he told me to sleep in). As I cleaned up breakfast this morning and I couldn't help but laugh. I never thought I would be excited to get up and see my better half off so early. I never though I would be so happy doing such trivial things. But I am. I have a lot of things to be thankful for this year but I am especially thankful for having more than I ever wanted.

Updates of sorts

I spent some time today going back and rereading my old blog, you know the one my gmail got hacked, password issues and now I can't get in. Sigh.

So many post are about my Grandparents. It has been rough two years in that department. Seriously, I still get emotional just thinking about it. I guess with the upcoming Holidays and the family togetherness, the thought about not having 3 of my Grandparents there is huge. And my one living Grandfather will be going to see his nephew that week so he won't be with us either :(

Justin's family (well his parents) will be in Florida for the holidays and his once across the street Grandparents are now about an hour away (they moved to get out of the harsh winters). So it will be an interesting year.

Justin is almost finished with his first semester of Grad School! Praise the Lord! There are small rumors that he may be done this time next year. I am still saying next May, but secretly hopefully :)

My mom has started Weight Watchers. I am sooo proud of her! She is down 20lbs and really, really doing great!
My dad's cancer scare was a scare and we still have to watch but things are looking good for now!
Brother, well he is still brother. But he is doing well and happy!

Me, well, who has time to worry about themselves?! :P  I am still struggling with weight and finding a minute to breath but things are OK. And even with all the sadness that is comes with missing family members, Justin really does make my cup runnith over :)

7 Quick Takes

  1. It is going to be 50 degrees for the next 5 days or so. I am hoping the warm weather continues but I will be thankful for whatever I can get! I am dreading the winter cold and snow!
  2. My work has decided to close down for even more days around the holidays. I am SUPER excited. I have also taken the first week off in January so we can go to Florida to visit Justin's parents.
  3. If you haven't heard WVU is moving to the Big 12. I am very excited and can't wait to make a tour of Texas/Oklahoma soon!
  4. Justin and I handed out candy last week, I couldn't believe how many people Trick or Treated for infants (I mean actually wanted children under 1 year to have their own bag of candy)
  5. So in 2 years 8 months I will be 30. Crappppppppp
  6. Do ya'll Pinterest? If not, start and be my friend. You will LOVE IT! If you need an invite let me know :)
  7. Sunday we have to take Justin's mom to the airport, we are going to miss her! But I am excited about IKEA, DSW Shoes and even maybe Cabellas :)
